The comedian George Carlin captured this human habit with a brilliantly simple observation:
When you are out and about on any motorway, have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?
One of the most profound questions we can ask ourselves in life is this:
Am I really seeing things as they are?
It’s a crucial question because, without even realizing it, almost all of us quietly assume that our way of looking at people, situations, and the world is the only right one.
The comedian George Carlin captured this human habit with a brilliantly simple observation:
When you are out and about on any motorway, have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?
Hidden behind the humor is a deep psychological truth: unconsciously, every single one of us has concluded that our own speed is the right speed.
And this quiet conviction goes far beyond the highway because we often assume that our personal views on relationships, friendship, politics, religion, money, work, ethics, and even happiness are the gold standard against which everyone else should be measured.
Yet, the moment we look at life with genuine honesty, we hit an undeniable truth, i.e., the world is full of thoughtful, intelligent, and deeply sincere people whose views completely contradict ours.
Such an astounding realization opens the door to questions that can transform who we are:
• Am I actually seeing reality, or am I just defending my conditioning?
• Is my mind truly open, or have I become rigid?
• Am I genuinely searching for truth, or merely protecting my opinions?
Essentially, it is crucial to understand that, questioning yourself isn’t a sign of weakness, on the contrary, it is, in fact, the ultimate mark of emotional maturity and courage.
Consequently, the moment we become willing to doubt our own certainty, real growth begins and, as a result, the walls built by rigid beliefs slowly crumble, making space for curiosity, humility, and genuine wisdom.
Because, above it all, true spirituality doesn’t start with the illusion of having all the answers, but with the courage to ask the right questions. So…
• Don’t be afraid to disarm your convictions.
• Welcome your doubts with curiosity.
• Walk through them with humility.
• And keep your mind open.
After all, it is only when we are willing to let go of old amnesties that we begin to see the beauty, vastness, and truth of life exactly as it is.

Tadany Um refúgio para a alma e um convite à consciência.

Many a times what we think and believe may or may not be true or partially true. Our thoughts depend on our experiences, beliefs taught to us from childhood by parents, teachers etc With the teachings of a Guru, as we progress in life, we see the facts, question ourselves, and let go of our ego. That’s the way we lead ourselves on the path of Righteousness, Enlightenment and Self Realisation.
