Self-knowledge is not something you add to yourself; it is what removes the ignorance of who you are.
We often believe that personal growth means becoming something more, i.e., more successful, more intelligent, more spiritual, or more worthy. But Vedānta points in a different direction.
Self-knowledge does not make you something you were not before; it removes the fundamental misunderstanding of taking yourself to be only the limited body, mind, and ego.
Just as light does not create a room but reveals what was already there, self-knowledge reveals the truth that ignorance had concealed.
Liberation, therefore, is not the acquisition of a new identity, but the recognition of your true nature.

Tadany Um refúgio para a alma e um convite à consciência.

As rightly said, Self Knowledge is always present, but we do not realise it due to our ignorance. Once, with the help of a Guru, we start realising it, life takes the right turn to understand our True Nature that we are primarily the Soul, which is indestructible, whereas our body with all the material world around us is destructible.
