You didn’t fail at meditation. You succeeded at finally giving the subconscious a microphone.
The goal of meditation is not to have a blank mind. The goal is to have a mind so clean that when old vāsanās (predispositions) knock on the door, there is nobody home to open it.
One day you will sit, and the entire basement of the subconscious mind will be empty. Then, on that day, you will not feel ‘peaceful’, you will simply know that there was never anyone there to disturb in the first place.
The mind will throw a party when you sit and try to meditate.
Your job is to be the bouncer who says ‘not today’ to every uninvited guest.
